Last In Time

Cover for the brand new album "Too Late" by the Last In Time band.

I conceptualized and created the overall graphics, including the design and layout of the booklet. I modeled, textured, and rendered all 3D assets from scratch. The vegetation and debris were generated using Geometry Nodes and Particles in Blender to enhance performance.

Numerous hours were dedicated to digitally painting over the final render to achieve the desired result, aiming to evoke the vintage feel reminiscent of classic rock record covers.

Concept:

When Massimo told me about his new band and the fact that they were in need of a graphic
designer for their album cover, I truly appreciated that he chose to share this opportunity with
me. Over the past few years, I've had the chance to see him perform live several times, so I
already knew that his new project would be intriguing, and I was certain it was on the verge of
releasing a passionate and down-to-earth album. This album would feature great songs
intertwined with beautiful riffss and stunning solos.
Back when I was a young lad, I was a guitar player myself, and that background greatly assisted
me in portraying the struggle of pursuing a passion as a musician.
I had my own interpretation of the real meaning hidden behind the band's name, so I began to
build upon this concept. This idea led me to infuse the artwork with numerous hidden
metaphors.
The flames of passion rise from the depths of the earth, mirroring their emergence from the
innermost recesses of the artist's heart.
The ruins symbolize the unraveling of one's own cocoon of beliefs and routines, enabling
creativity to assert itself.
In this case, the representation of the fall of the Tower of Babel takes on a diffserent and opposing
significance compared to the biblical interpretation; it signifies the potential to communicate
using diverse languages, phonemes, notes, and sounds.
The souls in the middle represent the various inner selves and all the responsibilities that artists
must confront throughout their lives. This eternal turmoil leads to a delicate and challenging
balance, which is why they are depicted walking on a narrow and steep bridge.
Then we have the Damned, symbolizing all the illusions and shatteered dreams of every
individual.
Regardless of how hard people are working or their personal preferences, they need to confront
their inner demons. They are a culmination of all the disappointments, dissatisfactions, and
wrong decisions that we carry with us. Here, we find the representation of the artist's journey,
fraught with difficulties and struggles, while still being able to bear the burden. It is through this
passion that he can rise towards the heavens and achieve universality.
This process repeats itself endlessly throughout the ages and endures over time.

All songs and lyrics were written, arranged, and produced by the master guitar player Massimo Marchetti and are his own trademark.
